The Scout Code of Conduct
The Scouts have formulated the following Code of Conduct to self police themselves at meetings.
All the Scouts have signed a declaration to abide by this code during any Scout Meetings or Camps.
This Code of Conduct is a set of rules based around the Scout Promise and Scout Law that the Scouts and Leaders should follow in all aspects of life, both during and away from any specific Scouting activities. The intention is to ensure that everyone gets the most out of the planned meetings and all HAVE FUN.
Scout Uniform should be worn at every meeting unless directed not to by the Scout Leader or via the Programme.
During meetings, the Scouts should remain in the meeting areas at all time, unless an Adult Leader has granted permission and there is proper supervision.
The Store Room, Kitchen and Scouter’s Room are out of bounds to all Scouts unless permission is granted by an Adult Leader for a specific task. This is for your own safety.
Any physical displays of a relationship between scouts (other than normal friendship of course), will be frowned upon.
Listen carefully and pay attention to instructions being given by the Patrol Leaders, Adult Leaders and Parent Helpers. By wasting time through not listening, you may not understand what to do and therefore not get as much out of the evening as planned, and you may also spoil the evening for others.
All Patrol members should work equally as a TEAM.
Do not show frustration during your allocated tasks and games in any way and particularly by the use of foul language.
Do not tease or bully anyone. Sexist comments are considered a form of bullying.
Take care of any equipment being used during scouting activities, particularly if it would be expensive to replace. Any damaged property will have to be replaced or paid for.
Respect others privacy when using the toilet facilities.
The meeting hall should be left clean and tidy at the end of the meeting.
Non-compliance
Any infringement of the Scout Promise and Scout Law in accordance with the Code of Conduct as above will incur a Yellow Card (warning). The reason for the yellow card will be noted by the issuing Leader.
Three yellow cards during a term will require a face to face meeting with the Parent(s) to discuss the issue and the appropriate penalties. This may require a letter of apology to be written by the Scout. When on camp, a phone call to the Parent will be made.
A further infringement of the Code during the term will result in a Red Card and immediate exclusion from the next two meetings. A further discussion with the Parent(s) and Scout may be required to discuss the best way forward. When on camp, a Red Card will require the Scout to be picked up and taken home by their Parent(s).
In the event of equipment being damaged or broken, a discussion between the Leader, Parent(s) and Scout will be required to agree a value on the damages and to discuss payment or replacement of the equipment.
