Fundraising is a very important aspect of Scouting that allows us to offer the facilities to the young people that are members of the Group; the most important of these is the Scout Hut. Without these fundraising events we would not be able to keep up the payments for the insurance, rent and services to the hut, as well as all the equipment we own.
Twice a year we hold a Jumble Sale, the proceeds of which mainly go towards the insurance of the building.
Every year the Chichester & Midhurst District hold an event in the centre of Chichester called "Children's Day". This is basically a fun day for all children; Scouts and members of the public alike; to raise awareness of the Scout Movement and also do some important fund raising.
We are also asked, normally once a year, to provide the catering for a local event. In the past we have provided catering for the "British Orienteering Championships" when it was held close by, and for 2007 and 2008, we have provided catering for the Goodwood Spring Challenge event. This year, however, did not go according to plan. Having been moved from the 20th April (clash with St. George's Day), the weather turned against us on the Sunday and the event had to be postponed. See the report here.
